Kenya Tax Update: Tax Laws Amendment Act, 2020

The Tax Laws (Amendment) Act, 2020 ( the ACT) was assented to by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta on 25^th April 2020, a month after he announced measures to cushion citizens from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic 

The Tax Laws (Amendment) Act, 2020 amends the Income Tax Act, the Value Added Tax Acts, the Excise Duty Act, the Miscellaneous Fees, and the Levies Act; the Tax Procedures Act; and the Kenya Revenue Act.

The provisions of the Act are effective as of Saturday, 25^th April 2020, which is the date of assent of the Act, other than the changes in respect of the taxable value of fuel and other products which will be effective from 15^th May 2020.
